INFERTILITY
HOW CAN I DEAL WITH THE TENSION INFERTILITY SEEMS TO CAUSE?
Genesis 30:1-2 . . . When Rachel saw that she wasn’t having any children, she became jealous of her sister. “Give me children, or I’ll die!” she exclaimed to Jacob. Jacob flew into a rage. “Am I God?” he asked. “He is the only one able to give you children!”
Proverbs 30:15-16 . . . There are three other things-no, four! -that are never satisfied: the grave, the barren womb, the thirsty desert, the blazing fire.
Why does God permit his loved ones to suffer pain, such as the pain of being unable to bear children? Why can’t he just give a child to parents who want one so badly? The real answer is that we don’t know. What we do know is that we live in a fallen world where life doesn’t always go the way we had hoped. We also know that God’s love for us is greater than anything we could ever imagine. But, for reasons we do not fully understand, he does not always allow us to have what we desire. Maybe it’s because he has a different plan for us. Or maybe it is simply because life is dealing you a hard blow. When we get to heaven we will find out. But now we must trust that heaven is a perfect place with a perfect and loving God, where all pain will be erased and life will be everything we hoped it to be. Until then, we cannot stop trusting that the God of that heaven is also the same God who lives now in our hearts.
HOW CAN I ACCEPT GOD’S TIMING?
Genesis 16:1-4; 21:2 . . . Sarai, Abram’s wife, had no children. So Sarai took her servant, an Egyptian woman named Hagar, and gave her to Abram so she could bear his children. “The Lord has kept me from having any children,” Sarai said to Abram. “Go and sleep with my servant. Perhaps I can have children through her.” . . . [Later]Sarah became pregnant, and she gave a son to Abraham in his old age. It all happened at the time God had said it would.
Psalm 62:1, 5, 8 . . . I wait quietly before God, for my salvation comes from him. . . .I wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. . . .O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.
Isaiah 30:18 . . . The Lord still waits for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for him to help them.
Isaiah 64:4 . . . Since the world began, no ear has heard, and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!
Lamentations 3:25-26 . . . The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for him and seek him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.
Sometimes God says yes when we pray. Sometimes he says no. Sometimes he wants us to wait. And sometimes we must remember that God is God and we are human, and perhaps we should not understand everything about his ways. We can accept God’s timing best when we accept God as God.
IS IT WRONG TO CONTINUE TO PLEAD TO GOD FOR CHILDREN?
Psalm 5:3 . . . Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
Genesis 25:21 . . . Isaac pleaded with the Lord to give Rebekah a child because she was childless. So the Lord answered Isaac’s prayer, and his wife became pregnant with twins.
Genesis 30:22-24 . . . Then God remembered Rachel’s plight and answered her prayers by giving her a child. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son. “God has removed my shame,” she said. And she named him Joseph, for she said, “May the Lord give me yet another son.”
As long as you have hope, pray. As long as you believe in miracles, pray. As long as you believe in God, pray. Then let God be God. Let him do what he knows is best.
PROMISE FROM GOD:
Romans 8:39 . . . Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
